Cedar is a superb, high quality timber from Canada. It's specially chosen for its durability and stability and it is perfect for New Zealand conditions, with harsh sunlight in Summer and then dampness in Winter. Each blade is 46 or 60mm in width and is coated in a superb high quality lacquer or paint finish from Mirotone, making them less likely to fade and warp in the sun. We have over 30 different stains to choose from and we can colour match any paint colour you might be using on your walls or architraves.
Cedar is the premium wood used for Venetian blinds. Basswood, Agathis, Phoenix and any other wood are all inferior products. Long term effects of these woods in your windows are warping, bowing, cupping and the delamination of paint or stain. At Brightshine we won’t clean these products for fear of damaging their fragile composition and we won’t manufacture using anything other than cedar as we don’t believe any other wood will stand up to the NZ weather conditions to ensure the necessary longevity of the product in your home.
The Cedar look is warm and natural and will add character to any room. In winter you can completely close the blinds and the cedar will retain the heat, keeping you warm and cosy. And when summer comes around, just open up the blades and let the cool breeze drift through.
